Gearlog Riddle of the Week: What's white and when in contact with water turns red all over?
Answer: The watermark dot on the inside of your Verizon Wireless handset! (If you answered correctly, then you might have had your warranty voided by Verizon Wireless.)
Handsets on Verizon Wireless are under warranty for one year from purchase, which covers any hardware or software troubles. Unless the handset gets water damage. Verizon Wireless determines if its handsets are damaged by shipping them with a white watermark in the shape of a dot behind the battery cover (location may differ between handset manufacturers). If the white dot has turned red, the mark as been in contact with moisture and thus the warranty is now void.
In a completely unrelated story, if you have a use for a white watermark in the shape of a dot, check out this store on eBay.
Enjoy!
